Years

Three more decades.
The thought is terrifying.

   The first
         oblivious enough
         though growing darker
         and inexorably closing in on me
   The next
         a torment
         beaten down and losing
         all hope of ever
         finding that which I had sought
   This last
         though punctuated
         here and there
         with exquisite moments of perfection
         the hardest of them all

But three more?

   I shall endure…
   Even if that's to be without you (by my side)
